An AGA cross-regional Huddle

Asian investment into Latin America is accelerating - and it's coming from more directions than ever. China-Latin America trade has roughly doubled over the past decade. Thailand marked ten years of its free trade agreement with Chile in 2025. India is deep in trade negotiations with Chile and Peru and opening a fresh track with Mexico. And Vietnam is emerging fast as a partner in its own right: bilateral trade with Mexico has been growing at 10-15% a year, with Mexico now Vietnam's second-largest trading partner in Latin America.

Behind every one of those flows sit companies that need advisers on both sides - and that's exactly where this Huddle comes in.

It brings together AGA members from across Asia and Latin America for a practical look at the deals, the sectors and the corridors where the two regions are converging: what Asian investors are looking for, where LAC markets are open for business, and how independent firms on both sides can work together to serve clients making the crossing.

But capital is only half the story. Just as important is how business actually gets done across these cultures - how relationships are built, how partnerships and trust grow over time, and how negotiation and decision-making differ from one side of the corridor to the other. We'll get into the cultural realities that so often decide whether a cross-border deal works, not just the legal and commercial mechanics.

The Huddle is moderated by Ivan Szymanski of Vazquez Tercero & Zepeda (VTZ) in Mexico City, who works across both regions from the Latin American side. He's joined by Susana Muñoz of GBA Latam in Hong Kong, who has spent more than twenty years building trade and investment ties between Greater China and Latin America; by Dimpy Mohanty, Founding Partner of LexCounsel in New Delhi, who advises on the corporate and investment side of India's fast-growing links with the region; and by a Partner from GPS Legal in Bangkok, bringing the Thai perspective on the corridor.

We're also delighted to welcome H.E. Alejandro Negrín Muñoz, Ambassador of Mexico to Vietnam, who will bring a diplomatic lens to the fastest-growing leg of this corridor. Ambassador Negrín has led the Mexican Embassy in Hanoi since 2022, a period that has seen bilateral trade climb past $10bn a year and the two countries mark 50 years of diplomatic relations in 2025. He has been a vocal advocate for deepening the relationship beyond trade, including a comprehensive partnership and expanded cooperation with ASEAN - giving him a rare vantage point on where Vietnam-Mexico ties are heading next.
